Childcare Works will be offering support to LAs focused on supply and demand mapping, through 2 hour ‘teach in’ sessions. The sessions will be delivered as cluster-style meetings, with LAs grouped to regional characteristics.
Early Years Supply and Demand Mapping support for LAs
The aim of the teach in sessions are:
- To support LAs understanding of what data is available to them to assess market capacity and demand.
- To share an outline of market capacity and demand assessments, which can be replicated at LA level.
- To support LA understanding of how data can be interpreted to support market management and planning.
LAs will also be able to nominate themselves to receive more targeted support, if they feel this is required. This support offer will be delivered via Group Action Plans (GAPs), targeting specific common areas of concern or issues with a small number of LAs.
LAs are invited to complete an expression of interest form.
This form will be reviewed by the DfE Early Years regional leads and will be open for two weeks – the deadline for completion is Wednesday, 5th November 2025.
If you have any questions, please contact your DfE Regional Lead.

Thinking about transitions?
Let your local early years and wraparound providers, childminders and schools know about these resources available for free via the Childcare Works HUB:
- Effective Transitions – A recorded presentation created by Nasen which explores strategies to support positive transitions for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly in the context of wraparound provision.
- Strategies – A short video from Dingley’s Promise which focuses on strategies to support children with SEND - including home visits, social stories, visual timetables, now and next, sustained shared thinking and turn taking. This video is part of a series created to equip local authorities and providers with the confidence to foster meaningful inclusion throughout their early years settings.
There are many more resources available to support early years and wraparound childcare providers in the ‘SEND and Inclusive Practice’ section of the Childcare Works HUB.
