14 October Sufficiency Teach-in: Session 3

Date: 14/10/2024
Time: 11:00 - 12:00
Location: Online, via Microsoft Teams

Policy Area: Early Years

A number of local authority colleagues have requested a ‘back to basics’ review of the Childcare Sufficiency Duty, and advice, guidance and examples of how Childcare Sufficiency Assessment can be planned and executed.

Establishing a robust assessment of supply and demand supports market management and capacity development strategies and provides information and data that providers can use to consider their own business development.

We have planned four online ‘teach-ins’ for the autumn term, which are aimed at introducing sufficiency assessment and market management/action planning. These sessions are aimed at
colleagues that have recently become involved in this area, and those wanting to review their own plans for sufficiency assessment and meeting the Sufficiency Duty, applicable to all childcare 0-14
(and up to 17 for children with SEND). Sessions 2 – 4 also aim to help LAs understand how best to approach supply and demand mapping ahead of the September 2025 rollout milestone.

We are inviting you to attend one or more of these sessions and have provided some brief information about each below, with booking links, so you can decide who in your LA might benefit from attending.

Session 3 – mapping demand

Consideration of the challenges to mapping parental demand for childcare, methodologies for assessing demand and data sources, good practice examples around parental demand surveys
