Schools will be an essential partner in developing, delivering or supporting new early years places in some areas in 2025. Increasing capacity, lowering age ranges or setting up new provision in available school space may be key activity in sufficiency action plan. Engaging school leaders, MATs and academies will be key to the success of this strategy.

This 60-minute session for officers responsible for childcare market management and the engagement of schools in early years sufficiency planning will:

  • Consider how do we best engage with schools – who, how and when.
  • Discuss what local authorities are already doing and hear what has worked in place creation strategies in 2024.
  • Consider how we engage and include schools a local sufficiency strategy.

This session will provide local authorities (LAs) with knowledge and skills to stimulate wraparound demand through direct activity, and indirectly through provision of provider support.
